As a child I remember being so happy when my brothers and sister and I would sneak out the family photo albums, always kept in a safe spot to keep the fingers and toes of our childhood away. We would flick through the pages and reminisce on the good times spent together, often laughing at a ridiculous pose, or the inevitable costumed photos from book parades of years gone by. Yes, we were a cheeky bunch, but we always had a sense of comradery, in it together, finding the joy in all the little things that life offers. I find this joy is recreated when I capture the perfect image. I am always looking for the details, the art in life, capturing more than a photo but a memory, a moment, a pause. I often think back to my childhood photographs, constantly reminded how single images provoke such emotion, reflection and reminds me of memories that sometimes escape my mind.
Perhaps I am nostalgic, but I am also highly driven.
I have been photographing professionally for over 10 years and have an unreserved passion for capturing beautiful fine art photographs.
Having successfully operated Forever Rose Photography, we have chosen to create Carmen Hickey Photography to exclusively shoot for weddings. (Forever Rose Photography will continue to photograph beautiful family, newborns, children portraiture)
Having studied at Charles Sturt University and going on to attend further development at WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) in the USA, I have industry experience and knowledge to create beautiful fine art pieces for you to treasure forever.
Being awarded Australian Photographer for Small Business in 2016 has been a highlight of my career as well as Entrepreneur for the NSW Business Chamber (Murray Riverina).
I have also been fortunate enough to photograph weddings in the USA.
I am an accredited member of AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography) and continue my long association with them.
As well as being a professional photographer, I am also a mother to two beautiful girls (Tilly & Lucy) and together with the love of my life Chris and his three daughters we enjoy times together just relaxing and having fun.
